In 2018, Manzongo Freddy returned from DRC with a PMAK war weapon. In November 2019, he and some friends killed three elephants. Some time later, Manzongo Freddy lent his gun to two of his friends who killed an elephant. The case caused a stir in the village and the accused fled to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In 2002, OKOMBI Jean provided MATEBOU Norbert and MOKOTI Emile with one rifle and instructed them to practice elephant hunting. Mayebou and Mokoti returned back with elephant’s meat and ivory tusks which they gave to OKOMBI Jean.
In September 2012, Mazamba Raoul was contacted by Fernand to hunt elephants. On September 14, 2012 they left Ouesso to the forest each one having his role i.e. Fernand the hunter and Mazamba Raoul the carrier. They killed one elephant who had only one tusk. Fernand transported the tusk while Mazambe transported some pieces of the meat.
The Accused were arrested at Centenary Bank – Entebbe Road and were taken to Kampala CPS. The Accused were found to be in possession of specimen belonging to animals categorized as protected species contrary to the laws of the country. The Accused were charged and prosecuted at the Chief Magistrate Court of Kampala at Buganda Road.
