On the 27 June 2018, the accused HAWA was arrested in the MADA neighbourhood in BERTOUA by elements of the Gendarmerie Legion, East during a search at her home. She was arrested in possession of two (2) elephant ivories.

During interrogation, he admitted the facts but named the co-offender, KUATE JOSEPH as the owner of the trophies.
The accused persons KWESSI Franck ROBERTSON and AYOLO ATONG Parfait were summoned before the court of First Instance, Djoum by the State Attorney to respond to charges of illegal detention of firearms and ammunitions; and hunting without a permit.
The accused persons LEFIDI AYISSI and SALLA epse NGONO NOMO Sydonie Anique were summoned by the State Attorney to appear before the Court to answer charges of complicity in the illegal detention of a totally protected class A animal species, a dead Gorilla.

That on the 29 November 1989 in Mintom, she was arrested for poaching protected animal species without a hunting permit in a zone prohibited from hunting.
