On the 29 November 2015, elements of the conservation service the accused persons BALAYE Jonas and BADOUA Florent in Libongo in possession of elephant meat. The accused BALAYE claimed a Baka, an indigenous person, invited him to a usual hunting activity. The said Baka gave him the elephant meat, which he shared with the co-offender BADOUA.

In October 2015, ENDELE NNANGA Léonce Fernand organized a hunting expedition in the AYINA forest composed of 9 individuals to whom he gave provisions, arm, and ammunitions for the killing of elephants for tusks extraction. This expedition team included trackers, porters, cooks, shooters.

In January 2019, the accused was arrested by elements of the conservation service of Dja arrested the accused person for Illegal detention of hunting guns, illegal hunting without permit, and involuntary harm. At the close of interrogations, they were transmitted before the State Attorney for prosecution.

On the 5 September 2017, elements of the forestry and wildlife control post of Djoum carried out investigations on poaching activities. This led to the arrest of the accused flagrante delicto with a Chimpanzee in attempt to sell it.

On the 21 October 2016, the co-offenders went to the Djoum central market to buy bush meat (protected animals’ carcasses Classes A & B species). Some of them were to stock their restaurant, others were to resell and others for personal consumption.

In November 2015, the accused ANGO SOUA Simplice entered a Gabonese forest with gun for large scale hunting (Calibre 12) and ammunitions for poaching. While in the forest, he was surprised by Gabones park rangers who opened fire on him, forcing him to run off after being shot around his abdomen.

The court considered an appeal against the sentence imposed.

The two Accused had been convicted of unlawfully hunting game. The value of weapons and vehicle used in the commission of the offence exceeded the civil jurisdiction of a Subordinate Court, which accordingly referred the question of forfeiture of these articles to the High Court.

Appellants had been convicted for unlawful hunting upon a plea of guilty before a Subordinate Court. They had hunted 19 springbok and 1 gemsbok without a licence. All pleaded guilty, were convicted and were sentenced to pay fines of varying amounts.

The appellants were represented in the Subordinate Court by an attorney, and according to the record, upon the charge being put to them they and their co-accused all pleaded guilty.
